Important Dates

It is important to know when you can make changes to your Medicare coverage. You may not be able to make changes to your coverage outside of these important election periods.

October 1 – November 14

2009 benefit and premium information is available for all plans. Take advantage of this time to shop, compare and be ready for enrollment on November 15.

Medicare Advantage Plan with Prescription Drug Coverage - All of Preferred Care Partners plans are in this category.

TIP

You can apply as early as three months before turning 65, so your Medicare coverage will begin when your eligibility does.

During this time, persons eligible for Medicare can enroll in a Medicare health benefits plan, including any of the MA-PD plans offered by Preferred Care Partners. Enrollment made during this period will become effective January 1.

January 1 – March 31
Open Enrollment Period

If the plan you chose in November or December does not suit your needs, you may be able to switch plans during the Open Enrollment period.

April 1 – November 14
Lock-in Period

This period is often referred to as the “lock-in” period. In general, you are not able to make changes to your coverage. Only in special circumstances may you make changes to your coverage during the lock-in period. Some of these special circumstances are:
